First Conference Match win

Miami traveled 8 hours to compete in their first conference match up of the season against Buffalo.  Miami took first pace in 14 of the 16 events match.  The meet started with the 200 medley relay, where the Redhawks touched ahead of Buffalo by over a full second with a time of 1:45.90.  The relay win set the tone for the rest of swim meet.  The Redhawks had 5 swimmers take home multi-event wins.   Junior Chelsea Bruington won the 200 and 500 freestyle, sophomore Leah Thornton took the 100 and 200 backstroke, sophomore Bekka Westrick won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, freshman Nikki Craft took first in the one meter and three meter dives and finally senior Megan Brunn won the 200 individual medley and the 200 breaststroke.
This conference meet win and the times posted by the girls will set Miami up for a great season. After the first weekend of real conference match-up's the MAC Conference will be able to compare and contrast each others teams.  Miami is definitely sending the right message to the rest of the MAC conference.
